compare estimated and actual timing

Hi there,
this is probably a simple question. I am planning a project and would be interested how much the timing turns out to deviate from the plan. I only see that I can first estimate the timing and change this by overriding the values. Can the first guess be saved and later be compared to how long it really took?
Thanks
Heinrich

Save a baseline
The baseline will show the deviation from original plan to the current project status both for cost and schedule

Setting "Actual" dates Moves Planned "Start"
Why is it after I created a baseline (hence I can do a budgeted cost for earned value, when I set the "actual" start which is different from planned (maybe early.. maybe late).. the Planned "start" also alters, this in turns alters the whole project plan time cycle.
I've even edited the Activity Type to
- Fixed Units / Fixed Duration / Fixed work
- checked and unchecked Effort Driven / Ignore Resource Calendar
and still setting the actual moves the planned start and work duration.
Even set the activty from "Start As soon as possible / Must be on / No later than / No earlier than / etc.." doesn't seem to get this working.
I'm on Libre 1.5.9-1 on Ubuntu.
I've read a few post on this too here which seem to have them on the same problem hence that's what I've experimented on your suggestions on other post.
Do you have a project status date?
Did you set a project status date?
