Gantt Table shows compressed and unreadable dates

I just started using PL, but ran into an issue right away. As you can see in the below picture, my dates on the Gantt are unreadable due to compression. They seem to be in the wrong size box.

I have changed my zoom and display settings to no avail. When I print these artifacts are also seen on the printout.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have been a previous user on Windows 7 and Linux Mint 16.2, My office has now given me a Laptop with Windows 8.1 and 4k screen. I've loaded PL and setup the 32bit Java so it works, When I open the app I get a small window in top left corner and the fonts very small on the tool tip. When I close the tool tip then expand the window I have the same issue of compressed messy dates and also the task rows although a readable text size have been cut due to the row heights which I appear not to be able to adjust. I've gone through all the compatibility tests through Windows 8 and do not seem to be able to adjust the features. I've loaded the program onto my daughters Windows 10 desktop and all is well again. Is there a fundamental flaw in Windows 8 which PL is using?

3200 x 1600 high definition display makes PL impossible to read.  There have been several fixes suggested but none seem to sort this problem.  Really keen to keep using PL but my patience trying to find a fix is running out. Please help otherwise I'm going to have to go to MS.

I am unable to decompress my calendar/dates on my Gantt chart nor can I increase the row heights.  Has anyone come up with a solution to this issue yet?

From reading the previous unanswered comments, it doesn't appear that the authors of PL are reading our questions and coming up with solutions.
