Scrolling with Mouse or trackpad only occurs left-to-right

Has anyone else noticed this? Attempts to use mouse or trackpad in up-down motion actually move the Gantt chart left-right. Thoughts?

That is really strange... I have also tried to reproduce and could not.  I'll check with others and try to isolate the issue.... Thank you for the post.

Are you on Windows?

To reproduce (version 1.5.7/Windows 7):

  • Open Gantt view
  • move mouse over task list
  • Scroll down with mouse - display moves right.

Then:

  • move mouse to the rightmost vertical scroll bar
  • scroll down - now the whole window scrolls down (as expected/desirable)

It's irritating/illogical/downright wrong to have to move to precisely the scroll bar in order to use the mouse to scroll.

Hi there,

I don't see this but will try in a different configuration..... You should update to version 1.5.8.  I don't think it is fixed in the latest version but some other things are.  Once again, I can't recreate but will try again

Cheers,

Hello,

I'm using vesion 1.5.8 with a macbook air and it is happenning the same to me. scroll up/down with mouse track does not work, what makes it very unconvenient. does anybody know how to solve or overpass this problem?

thanks in advance

I'm running 1.5.8 on Ubuntu 12.04LTS.  I have my mouse set for click-to-focus, and the only way to scroll up and down with the wheel is to point the mouse in the Gantt chart scroll bar.

I've also noticed that the task list has no vertical scroll bar, even if Gantt is minimized to the left.  Shouldn't the task list "grow" a vertical scroll bar when the Gantt chart is minimized? The arrow keys and PgUp/PgDn are much more useful than scrolling, until the project task list gets really long...

We need to identify this as there are tracking problems on Mac as well

Yes, the new version is a complete rewrite and has a new spreadsheet.  It will be fixed

It seems like the annoyance of the gantt spreadsheet mouse scroll going side to side still exists. The community comments i could find all suggest this was going to be updated in subsequent versions, but I've just been trying out 1.7 (windows 10), several versions later and it seems perhaps even worse.

when the pointer is over the gantt chart main area my mouse wheel does nothing. It doesn't scroll up and down or left and right unless the pointer is over the vertical or horizontal gantt chart scroll bars at which point it will scroll both the chart and spreadsheet only up and down. It also does not recognize pressing of the scroll-wheel to get the four way pan many applications offer.

Meanwhile when the pointer is over the spreadsheet nothing also happens except when it's over the horizontal spreadsheet scroll bar, then it scrolls the spreadsheet left and right. There is no spreadsheet vertical scroll bar so the only way to navigate the spreadsheet up and down (with mouse) is to go all the way over to a chart side scroll bar to manually, or with mouse wheel, navigate up and down. 95% of the time when I want to navigate the spreadsheet I want to go up and down so this scroll behavior is super wasteful. I've reviewed many, many, project gantt chart programs and none behave this way.

Even just making the horizontal spreadsheet scroll bar act like the gantt chart horiz. scroll and have it scroll the spreadsheet up/down using the wheel when the pointer hovers over it but move everything right/left when clicked and dragged, would be some improvement.

It makes what is otherwise a pretty decent project management program annoying enough to not want to use.
