I am studying project management and I would like to introduce ProjectLibre to my university. But, how do I start working on this ?

I would like to create a WBS but I am not able to start. I don't know how the software works.

I would like to have a tutorial or manual for working on this software product

I have started creating a tutorial for using ProjectLibre in English. I have currently written two parts:

http://www.project-management-tools.net/projectlibre-tutorial-part-1/

http://www.project-management-tools.net/projectlibre-tutorial-part-2-task-breakdown-resources/

Probably there will be about 5 parts, and I am writting one-two parts per week.

Hello everyone,

It is really great to see the tutorial getting written!  We are completely swamped with rewriting the application code.  The features will be the same so this is great.... we are making the code modular so more people can contribute in the future.  It will also open up integrations.  I have been troubled for months that the documentation and tutorials are not adequated.  Bravo on the work!!!!!!  We will promote when done!

I have written two parts more:

Assigning resources, calculating costs

Project Baseline, Calendar options

Thank you for the contribution.... can you contribute in an open source fashion to the community documentation ?  We don't want different docs.... it will ultimately be at the .org.  Please consider contributing.   We are working hard on the rewrite.

Thank you,

Marc

I just downloaded ProjectLibre today. As I learn to use it, I would be happy to contribute content for the documentation. (I'm an experienced tech writer.)

So.....Where should I put content?

Thank you!

Hi Marcia,

We have gotten the documentation into Google Docs so it will be much easier to contribute.  Can you take a crack at some contributions ?  It is really an important hole we need to improve.  It is up to 86 pages but a Tutorial is not available just a user document.  https://docs.google.com/a/projectlibre.com/document/d/1ZSldKw6gC8iuriQPdckHfaxaWvwQhYxP_Do-I-dnbHs/edit#heading=h.mwpneogklkrn

Thank you so much!!!!

Marc

I have a need to build a "master document" where I could group some projects that have some relation. Better explaining:

I would like to see (e.g., a Gantt Graph) a set of project as a whole.

For each one I would like to have a particular Gantt and I would like to have a Gantt where I could see all together and, If I change one of the "child" Gantts, this change would reflect to the "parent" Gantt.

By the other hand, in the "parent" Gantt, I could establish some relation between tasks belonging to different "children", like the case of tasks in different projects that must be done by the same person and, because of this, must be serialized. This would change projects durations or task concatenations.

Such functionality would allow me to manage resources and task priorities among projects and, then, better estimate deliveries.

Thanks in advance,

reading manual, (thanks so much to the writer) there is on the zone like subject, a comment that say:  [I do not understand how
this search function works. Can someone explain it to me? DTW]

in "field" select what column you want to probe

in "find" whrite the name are you looking for

example: in column name, you have named 10 tasks with increasing letter a,b,c,d,e,f,g,........

now if you want to find "h" task whrite in the find dialog box:  FIND "h"      FIELD "name"

than click on find button and find all thing that match with,

sorry for worst english

Yes, basically if you are looking for all tasks with the name "Design" then you would select the field Name and type in Design and then search....  you could do that on other areas just put the field in then search

Two questions:

1. how do I change the date format to DD/MM/YYYY (please do not refer me to Comment 1354 - it goes nowhere)

2. how do I change the default start and end of day to be, say 9:30 - 17:30

Many thanks
