How to edit a gantt chart

Hi,
first time user. trialling before i commit to purchase MS project as hoping i can avoid the purchase.
i have created a project and gantt chart. Truoble is, the gant chart is displayed in weeks and i would much prefer monthly overview so i can see more on the 1 page. Is there a way to do this as the editign options seem non existent.

As I understand it you simply Zoom in or out using the buttons in the Resources Tab

And is it possible in your opinion to change the "tiers" above the Gantt chart. Such as W1,W2, etc. from the Project Start Date. or Quarter 1, Quarter 2, of the fiscal year or even from the Start of the Project?
These are the features of MS Project I've used very much and I would be glad to find something similar in PL.
