Hello from Marc,

We have well over 500 registered members of the ProjectLibre community now and thousands more who are actively participating.  I have been in touch with many of you and have enjoyed hearing of the ProjectLibre usage around the world.  There are some very interesting projects running on ProjectLibre.   We are now in 135 countries with projects running in Fortune 500 companies, non-profilts, universities and governments.  A lot of these are replacements of Microsoft Project. We will start promoting some of these success stories once things settle down with our release.   We still have a lot of work to do!

We are releasing beta 5 later today, great job Laurent & Team!!!!!!   I would recommend downloading as there are a lot of improvements, particularly over the early versions including:

  • Many bug fixes
  • Linux packaging
  • Printing ( we actually had a regression going from Beta 3 to Beta 4 when we introduced localization)
  • Printing with scaling and print preview etc.
  • New translations: Arabic, Hindi.  with others languages updated
  • Did I mention more bug fixes..... Laurent & Team are doing an amazing job!!!!!

We will continue with improvements but also commence the dirty work of rewriting more code.  This work is necessary so we can integrate our ProjectLibre Server development along with making customization more available.  This is actually very important as Microsoft Project is on 7% of all desktops.  There are many organizations looking for an alternative, particularly with Mac and Linux computers creating a heterogenous environment.  The cost and lack of cross platform availability have hit IT departments and project managers around the world.  There has been good feedback for our efforts on the Server/Cloud as well.

Once again, wanted to communicate the ProjectLibre beta release later today.  It is also a recurring compliment to the community but we really appreciate the feedback and your being a member of the community.  If you get a chance can you please vote for ProjectLibre as open source project of the month. We are working very hard to improve ProjectLibre.  This release is another step forward!

Best regards,

Marc
