Multiple Predecessors & Tasks Dialog

Checking out ProjectLibre and it looks quite promising.

Does ProjectLibre support multple task predecessors?  It appears that it cannot.  I receive errors when entering 2nd task ID in predecessor in grid view.  Additionally, I see no way to add a predecessor task on the Task/Predecessor dialog window.

Not sure if bug or a a new feature request.  If new feature here are some asks:

  1. support multiple predecessor and successor tasks for each task (infinate would be great but at least 20)
  2. enable addition of tasks either from task/gantt grid or from task dialog tabs for predecessor & successor
  3. "link" action/button should also support FS links so high number tasks and drive low number tasks in list.  Right now it appears that then two tasks are selected the link button will always have task with lower # drive higher # task.  MS Project supports the 1st task selected driving the 2nd task selected with link command.

Thank you team for your efforts.

1) Thanks for the note.... did you cut/paste the data from a spreadsheet ?  I am perplexed as ProjectLibre certainly accepts multiple predecessors. I just verified.  I created tasks 1, 2, 3,4    and went to 4 and the predecessor spreadsheet column and entered 1,2,3  and it was correct.  I am not sure why that would not work for you.

2) Again, this works fine when I tested

3) Interesting note.  The graphical link does default to FS.  It again worked fine for me with the links.

I would be curious if you pasted this in from a spreadsheet.

Thank you for your quick review.  Actually, I later tried again and I was able to directly enter multiple predecessors in the grid view - perhaps user error the first time.  No, I did not paste from a spreadsheet.

I still find that the "Link" command button assumes a lower number task drives a high number task (earlier in task list/WBS).  The order in in which two tasks are selected to use the Link button doesn't seem to matter.  Manually entering precessor number is decent work around for now but would be nice enhancement in future.

Thank you.

I'd love to know what you did differently as I am still having the problem - completely rebooted and came back the next day and I still can't get multiple predecessors to work. I tried separating the numbers with commas, semicolons, and spaces but still got the same error about an invalid Task ID.

Dear OB,

I have just downloaded ProjectLibre - congratulations on this great-looking piece of open-source software!

I need to be able to import Excel data into ProjectLibre in order to be able to use it for my purposes. I saw from another post that this functionality will be coming soon. I look forward to it!

In the meantime I am hoping to be able to do the import by copying the rows in Excel and pasting in ProjectLibre. I have seen that this mostly works ok, except when trying to paste multiple predecessors (e.g. with this example project). Multiple predecessors separated by a comma, or a semi-colon won't always be recognised. I only succeeded in getting them recognised on one occasion and I wasn't able to repeat this.

I thought from reading your post above that you might be aware of this issue and was wondering if you might be able to help me this?

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Best,

Ed

Thanks Ed,

I will say that the spreadsheet cut/paste is one of the issues with the latest version.   We are implementing a new spreadsheet in the new version.  We do want to effectively cut/paste from spreadsheets.  It currently is not recommended!
