231 Worldwide usage with 270,000 downloads replacing Microsoft Project in 219 countries! Need more PR and documentation

The worldwide usage of ProjectLibre continues to grow rapidly.  ProjectLibre was downloaded in over 110 countries this week alone.  There are over 270,000 downloads in 219 countries!  We continue to rapidly make progress with the next version.  Our biggest needs are to get more promotion and notice out to the project management world that ProjectLibre can replace Microsoft Project ( @MsftProject ) . There was a nice article done already in TechReplublic.

232 How to lock the duration of tasks

Hi everybody.

In my project, I have only one task (TASK1), and I think it will last for 10 days.

I assigned three resources to TASK1: Supervisor, Employee and a Diver.

233 New Layout

I'm new to ProjectLibre from OpenProj which no longer seems to be working. I'm glad to see it now opens .pod files, but the new the interface is a let down. Almost a quarter of the screen is taken up with logo's and toolbar items which are either totally unnecessary (Logos) or easily available from the keyboard. On a big project this waste of space becomes a problem.

234 Adding Costs

Hi,

I am new to ProjectLibre and i would like to add costs to my Gantt chart. I have seen the $0.00 section but cannt find where to put this in.

Also does this work on a per hour basis or when you add resources will this also add to the cost of the project?

I hope someone can help, it is a shame there isnt a turorial or something on how to use the software. It looks like good software to have but it is taking me a long time to work out how to do things.

Thanks

Deasha

236 About the Initiative Projectlibre.

Introduction

The ProjectLibre, like its predecessor OpenProj, always aimed to be an alternative open source project management. The program as well as life follows its rhythm, is naturally evolve and old need to give way to the new. Unsurprisingly OpenProj is already past and ProjectLibre is the future, but we can not forget the way done at this point.

237 Calendar Start Time

I am running Linux Mint with ProjectLibre. I am trying to change the workday time. I can get to the screen required and create a Special Calendar, but ProjectLibre will not accept revised start and finish times.

UPDATE: I figured out that you have to define the days on your calendar that covers the duration of the project in order to be able to change the start and finish time. I then assign the new cendar to the resources that use it. However, now I cannot save the calendar with the revised start and finish times.  Help?

238 Question on adding fixed cost

How do you add a fixed cost to a task or resource (I'm using PL 1.5.5 on a Mac)?

Thanks,

239 Indent and Outdent bugs

I'm sorry to say that this product is NOT user friendly. I downloaded the app last evening and started to populate tasks within the "Name" field. I then wanted to create the hierarchy and add subtasks but every time I "Outdented" a task, the task was removed from the line and taken to the bottom of the all of the tasks. I tried working with it several different times and have just been frustrated with my results. Also, the mouse scroll does not work on the page, but I have to go to the side bar to scroll - Frustrating.

240 New significant release of ProjectLibre

We are pleased to announce the release of ProjectLibre 1.5.5.  This has significant improvements, most that are not visible.  We previously announced the ongoing effort to complety rewrite the ProjectLibre codebase. This process is  well under way and will be released with a target of late Summer.  Laurent and the team are amazing!  It is common knowledge that we exclusively wrote the OpenProj code a decade ago.  The code is complex and virtually impossible to attract code contribution due to the complexity.
